It’s the week before finals, which means life is busy. Today, I was looking at the LinkedIn profile of President Barack Obama, which led me to profiles for Senator John McCain and Congressman Ron Paul. I realized that I am only two people away from knowing these three political figures in the United States.
Have you ever checked “How you’re connected to Barack” or “How you’re connected to John”? Well, if you have a LinkedIn account, click on the respective photos to find out!
As of now, five of my connections know people who know President Barack Obama.
Three of my connections are one person away from Congressman Ron Paul.
Two of my connections are one person away from Senator John McCain.
It’s amazing how small the world is; how closely connected we are with each other. Now the question is: when will I be one connection away? When will I meet and be directly connected to those three gentlemen on LinkedIn?
Try it out yourself. See how you’re connected to random or famous people. Then, think about this, what if Facebook told each user how you’re connected a someone? Imagine the “mutual friends” feature being introduced to the second (friends of friends) and third (friends of friends of friends) degrees. Social networking is indeed a very powerful tool.

Quite everyone can become connected to Barack Obama via LinkedIn, try it.
