As you can tell from my previous posts, I have been trying to make good use of the social network Linkedin. Right now, I have exactly 60 connections. Today, I came across the Microsoft company profile and I noticed that simply counting my first and second degree connections, I coincidentally have exactly 60 contacts at Microsoft. Yet, what does this really mean in real life?

In theory, each and every one of these 60 people on Linkedin can help land me a job or internship there, but in practice does it really work? The company is appealing and their campus is nice. There are many other great things I can say about the company. But is this goal attainable?

Now you may ask, how can I apply this to other jobs in other companies? It’s simple. Check out your contact list. See where your friends work. Find some interesting companies? Chat with your friend over lunch or coffee and see if the organization is a right fit for you.  Best of luck linkin’ on LinkedIn!
